The place of the department: Botanic Department established at 1982 is carrying on studies under the Department of Biology. The department which is at the Aysekadin Campus till 1998 consisted of just a small botanic garden, a small greenhouse, a student Botanic laboratory and an Herbarium. In this building, the Botanic laboratory and the Herbarium were at the same saloon. When the Biology Department has moved to the Gullapoglu Campus after 1998, the number of students and the research laboratories belonging to the department has increased. In this building, there exists a Systematic Research Laboratory, Cell Biology Laboratory in which caryological studies are conducted, Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory and a Herbarium room. After the drying process of the plants collected from the field, diagnosis studies and the registration to Herbarium is completed at the Systematic Research Laboratory, the plants are transformed into collection material form and preserved at the herbarium.
